Two talks, two towns, in two days

I haven't done a talk for a bit - but we got two requests in for this week.  The first was at Leeds University to their enviro society and the second was to an Islamic girls school in Blackburn.  I was a bit nervous about talking to the university, so I took Greg from the Preston group wih me - what he dosen't know about tar sands just isn't worth knowing!  I needn't have worried though - they were a very welcoming group, interested in what we had to say, and surprised on the impact Greenpeace has had on their everyday lives - such as the impact we have had on supermarkets and sustainable fishing.  Definitely worth the long trip to get there!

Having restored my confidence in Greenspeaking - I went off to talk to the girls school in Blackburn.  I have done a talk here before, and last time took my large Asda fish with me.  They requested I bring it again, so I dusted it down and then had to walk through a building site carrying it.  Again, a lovely experience - warm, welcoming and interested in what Greenpeace was truly about.  Its great that the National Curriculum at some schools allows us to go in and talk to the students.

Glad the talk at the Uni went well and wasn't too scary after all. And so nice to get repeat requests :)
