The VW dealership on Elland Road, Leeds was the location for our regional activity which was also part of the UK and multinational day of action on Saturday.
Our Stormtrooper led our group of activists to the VW dealership - taking public transport, much to the delight of city commuters and shoppers alike.
Activists took peaceful action at the dealership as they unfurled a banner outside as well as placing a rebranded vehicle cloak on a VW Polo. These were soon torn down by staff and unfortunately the manager was not at all interested in our concerns that VW are aggressively lobbying against the strengthening of climate change legislation. However, our activists continued to occupy space within the dealership and forecourt to highlight that VWs lobbying is unacceptable. After clearly getting our message across we left and the police were satisfied of the good natured communications exercise and left us to continue to engage with members of the public outside and nearby, who were clearly supportive of our campaign message.
Our Stormtrooper who has left the darkside clearly has a clear message for VW: Stop Opposing Climate Laws. VW could also help reduce climate impacts from their vehicles by offering their Blue Motion technology as standard across their range of vehicles.
A little short for a Stormtrooper?
Yes
Haha! Aw, but if he's turning VW away from the Dark Side then I guess that's okay! Maybe the Force is strong enough in this one despite the vertical challenge.
That's enough Star Wars puns for today.
the above information is incorrect, Blue motion technology is available accross ALL of volkswagens diesel range, this technology does not lend itself to the petrol range which have different "green" technologies.
I think the point is that the BlueMotion option applies to the Polo, Golf and Passat vehicles only.
