Greenpeace Leeds meeting on Monday 11 February 2013 at Wharf Chambers.

Present: Joe, Alan, Cath, Nick, Sam, Matt, Liam, Richard, Barbara, Jayne, Liam’s dog and Barbara’s dog.

Flag for the Future:  Alan shared the myriad of designs for a flag for future created by children at his school.  Later they were uploaded to the website for the competition.  Greenpeace are hoping to display as many flags as possible on the website.  Closing date for the competition is 27 February 2013 so still time if you would like to submit a design and are between 6 and 26.  See www.flagforthefuture.org.

Training:  Video training opportunity.  Nick is interested in being our videographer.  Possible music event coming up to video. More details later.

Alan and Barbara gave us some excellent feedback on the recent Street Campaigning training day they had attended.  Also Richard talked about what the NVDA training involved.

Arctic Scroll:  Last date for names to on the scroll was yesterday – 11 February.

I ♥ Arctic:  Save this date for a day involving local ‘speech bubble’ photo activities and events. Saturday 20th April.  We are waiting for more info on this one.

PROJECT POD:  We are looking at holding a fund raising event to help with the design and manufacture of a new survival pod in time for Arctic campaigning this summer.  Greenpeace has used these unique, purpose built survival pods as a vital resource in direct actions.  Together with Matt and Sam we are looking at a possible music event in April.  This could be a very exciting, publicity grabbing event so we will keep you informed.

CFP:  Thank you to all who wrote to MEPs of the Fisheries Committee.  The result was the Committee taking a progressive stance along the lines of our campaign.

Next meeting:  Monday, 4 March 2013 at Wharf Street.  This may change and we may meet up earlier to progress the Project Pod event.
