The 8th November 2011 seen the iconic Rainbow Warrior berth at West Indian Dock, London.
As part of the boat crew on the Ribs, I was fortunate enough to be invited along to escort and welcome the ship along the Thames.
To be invited along to such an important event was a very proud moment for me personally after following the progress of the Rainbow Warrior’s actions over the years. It is good to see how far the ship has come from a converted trawler for the first rainbow warrior, to the most state of the art, environmentally friendly boat on the planet. This I have to say, could not be made possible without the continued donations over the years from our supporters who so kindly donate to make it all possible, and to also give me the honor of being part of Greenpeace and making a difference.
Once the ship had docked I was asked if I would like to do a 'watch', and was picked for the 4am - 8am shift to watch over the ships safety. Part of the watch was spent on the Bridge, where I envisaged sailing it to far flung places... and then up to the Mersey to Liverpool, maybe one day!
The only downside for the visit was that I unfortunately wasn't there to see the thousands of visitors beaming with pride like myself, for being part of Greenpeace, making a difference, and a part of history.
Love and peace
