Norwich Arctic heart

On Saturday we gathered outside the Forum in the centre of Norwich to create a heart around the Arctic to demonstrate our support for the campaign to have the region declared a global sanctuary and protected from the risks posed by oil drilling and other industrial development. This was part of the Greenpeace Global Day of Action involving people all around the world undertaking similar activities in the common cause.

Despite some tape on the ground our heart seemed to get rather flattened - more of an oval really - but the sentiment remained the same. We love the Arctic and we must do all we can to protect it. This is one of the planet's last true wildernesses and it would be tragic to see it destroyed for the sake of a few years extra oil production. Do we really want to have to explain to our childrren why that oil was so much more important to us than this unique environment.
