Having spent Christmas Day getting to Barcelona we boarded the Rainbow Warrior 3 early on Boxing Day and set sail southwards, with our final destination being Las Palmas in the Canaries. It doesn't take long to get used to the motion of the boat and fortunately the weather is being kind to us so all the stories we had been told about everyone getting seasick aboard prove false (well so far anyway).
When the sails are up the boat is an incredibly impressive sight, but unfortunately the wind isn't in the right place for much of the time so we have been under power for most of the journey so far.
Yesterday we had dolphins bouncing along our bow for a while and then late last night they were there again, glowing in the dark - it's true, they are phosphorescent. This morning we awoke having just passed through the Straits of Gibraltar and watched the sun rise over both Europe and Africa simultaneously - a beautiful sight.
Having mopped the corridors I am back to my current task of creating little versions of the Greenpeace boats which will go on the world map so everyone knows where we are. A little piece of the new Rainbow Warrior is going to be Mark forever (well until they break anyway)!
