So while some of our activists were outside the Shell Priory garage in Lenton, I was at West Bridgford farmers market trying out the new Arctic campaign with Jeff. Poor old Jeff had only come down to visit us but he is a seasoned campaigner so, despite a hard night in the pub the previous evening we hit the streets in West Bridgford - on the other side of the road from the farmers market. We were generally well received and lots of people took a leaflet so much so that after a couple of hours we thought we'd better stop as we have an event on this coming Saturday at Sneinton market and I wanted to make sure we had some leaflets left. The Shell campaign and the Arctic campaign are two sides of the same coin. We need to stop Shell drilling for oil in the Arctic and politically we need to protect the Arctic and make it a global sanctuary to prevent drilling or industrial fishing for ever. While the football has been on the telly, BBC2 has been showing a short series of films called Ocean Giants which are all about whales. Two whales are in danger in the Arctic - the Narwhal and the Bowhead and both are shown in the films. Try to find them on iPlayer - they are worth a watch.
