Lillian recognises that global warming is 'the issue of this century; but she is also very committed to the social and welfare issues affecting her constituents, and to transport issues (she is now a Shadow Minister for Transport). I went to her surgery try to pursuade her to ask the Chancellor a question about energy efficiency when he made his Autumn Statement on 29th Nov. She was very receptive to Greenpeace's arguments, but made no promises. We have to keep arguing the case that the catastrophic effects of global warming could out-weigh almost all other threats to our quality of life, and that there are realistic, achievable solutions if politicians had the will to fight for them.
