For the past three weeks 20 climate change activists have been on trial in Nottingham crown court accused of attempting to shut down Ratcliffe on Soar coal fired power station in Nottinghamshire.
Andrea Lee from the Nottingham active supporters group has been there every day in the visitors gallery and these are her thoughts on the trial:
Over the last few weeks i have been sitting in at the crown court to show my support for the 20 defendants in the Radcliffe power station trial. Every day i have come out and walked through town , feeling that i have watched a play or something separate to the bustling lives around me. I have quietly sat there listening and learning from the aray of expert witnesses with their knowledge and science.I have admired the defendants for their experience, patience and organising skills!.I have felt part of a group of other human beings prepared to get up do something. It has been a roller coaster, but i have been really depressed by some of the dark facts and elated at the human determination to try to organise a response to this emergency.I really hope that the result is inspired and gives me a good reason to crack open a bottle of the bubbly stuff soon!
The jury has retired to consider its verdict.
