Kumi Naidoo
Kumi Naidoo, Executive Director, Greenpeace

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP17) is due to take place in Durban in South Africa from November 28th through to December 9th.  A key feature will be to secure a global agreement on climate change as the Kyoto protocol's first commitment period is coming to an end.  There is also expected to be finalising of some of the deals made in Cancun (COP16) last year and we all know that COP15 in Copenhagen was a massive failure.  Are we going to be disappointed again?  Environmental destruction does more than destroy the planet.  It destroys  peoples lives as well, and it destroys more the lives of people less able to deal with the result of climate change.  This amazing video of Kumi Naidoo, the Executive Director of Greenpeace, who is himself South African and has an activism born of the apartheid movement, is really inspiring and I urge you to watch it.
