Pulling teeth in Gedling

What a difference a day and a location can make!  3 weeks ago the sun was shining and we were at the Brinsley Animal Rescue open day with the Common Fisheries Policy campaign and we used up all our letters in a little under 4 hours.  That was getting on for 100 letters to Dave Cam written and illustrated with most of the activity in the first couple of hours.  There were 4 or 5 of us there that day to share the load and give each other a rest away from the stall.

Yesterday at the Gedling show we were there from 10.30 till 5 and only got 50 letters signed.  Mind you the weather was lousy to start off with and two people who volunteered to help didn't turn up so poor old Keith and I spent the whole day working our socks off.  Campaigning is not always easy - sometimes it is like pulling teeth.  But then if you do a quick sum - Keith and I got 25 signatures each which is about the same rate as wnen we went to Brinsley but it was a lot harder and a lot more tiring and when you are let down by people and the weather is wet and windy then it is even more so.  Many many thanks to Keith for coming down all that way from Worksop to help and really I should have let you off lunch but next time I see you I'll buy you at least one pint!
