Atomic Weapons Establishment vulnerable to floods or earthquake

Posted by bpeter_101 - 21 October 2011 at 11:30am - Comments

Among the papers submitted to the Health and Safety Executive to inform their report into the Fukushima nuclear disaster is an interesting one from the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE), where the UK's nuclear weapons are made.  The report admits that more work is needed to bring AWE up to modern safety standards, and that the Establishment could be vulnerable to accidents such as a serious flood, power cut, or freak earthquake.  Read a report by independent journalist Rob Edwards on the story here.
