AWE Management Ltd, the company responsible for running the Atomic Weapons Establishment sites where UK nuclear weapons are made, will be the lead partner in a consortium which will take over operation of the Coulport arms depot in Scotland where warheads and missiles are stored before being loaded onto submarines.
According to the Sunday Herald, AWE will take over the site together with engineering multinational Babcock and arms dealers Lockheed Martin. Ministers have decided to privatise the site as part of a move to shed 25,000 jobs from the Ministry of Defence.
