Each tree planted round Britain has been twinned with one in a newly planted orchard in the village of Sipson where Cox's apples originated from and is due to be flattened if the 3rd runway at Heathrow goes ahead. Spokesperson Sheena Walker said, "Thanks to the Women's Environmental Network who allowed us to plant our tree in their allotment and express our opposition to the 3rd runway at Heathrow and all airport expansion. An expanded Heathrow would become the biggest source of CO2 in Britain and seriously threaten our chances of meeting our targets in controlling climate change."

Southend Councilor Alan Crystall was also present along with Leigh Town Councillor Elaine Crystall and members of South East Essex Greenpeace Active supporters and members of the Women's Environmental Network. Thanks especially to our "apple" in the picture Scott Taylor.
