When a few weeks ago our network Southwest London together with West London joined forces outside the Natural History Museum on the Greenpeace declared International Day of Arctic action and after the campaign would meet up with several other London networks to pose a group photo in front of Shell HQ's at Waterloo. I did have on my to do list to try to get in the local press and send out a press release prior to day. But it was one of those things we just never got round to do.

On the day the coordination of the photo went really well which together with Sebastian from Bethnal Green and Kirstie from Islington we managed to capture it quite well.

The power of the photo came true a few days later as it was selected in Greenpeace Internationals photo album on Facebook from where South London Press reporter discovered out, contacted Kirstie on facebook who then directed James to me and after I did a quick phone interview, having sent him a high resolution of the picture giving him details of our network meetings, the article was then finished to be posted on the Friday (South London Press is being published on Tuesdays and Fridays).

Further to that James have found us on twitter and follows us and needless to say we folloow him back. We have now done the crucial first step by estabelishing a contact and relationship with a reporter which is such and important tool when you need to get press coverage. Not wanting to get ahead of ourselves, but I don't think it's the last time we will appear in South London Press.
