A few months ago The Southwest London network relaunched after having been dormant for a while.
We are 4 coordinators that have been working hard to get this group up and running, and I think we're doing well, but we need your help. Though a few new members have joined and come to our meetings and we're slowly starting to build up a core it has also been a bit inconsistent, which make it hard to plan activities and events. For instance this weekend we have a stall at The Lambeth Country Show: http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/Country-Show/index.htm?WT.mc_id=countryshow which we have just about managed to scrape enough people together to help out on, but we had to give up the stall on the Sunday as we simply did not have enough people to fill it, so if you are on the area and maybe have signed up to Greenpeace, or haven't signed but are curious drop by and have a chat.
Though it is with great satisfaction, we have noted that the signs up on the website have increased by 15 since we took over - but we would really like to meet some of all those new faces, so come forward don't be shy. It may be that you have signed up, but are nervous about getting involved in our activities - there is absoloutely no obligation to take part in anything, you could just come at one of our meetings and find out what we are all about.
In fact our next meeting might be a particular good occasion as it's a social event, news about that will be up on the website shortly. There might also be the occasion that we're simply not doing thing's good enough, if that's the case we would love to hear from you - in fact I would likt to throw this open as a debate, so please comment on this blog abnout your thoughts, in fact about anything - would be great to have some feedback.
You can also see what we're up to on our facebook: http://www.facebook.com/groups/5299364894 and our twitter page:https://twitter.com/#!/SW_London_GP
A few examples of what we have been up to in the last few months include: Street campaigning in Balham for the 'Go Beyond Oil' campaign, putting up barbies around town for the campaign against Mattel, ongoing stickering activity on John West tuna, also stickering Barbie, + Hasbro and Disney products. There is many exciting new campaigns coming up as we speak.
Hoping to hear from some of you...
