Mattel, the makers of Barbie have recently been found out to be purchasing packaging materials from a company named APP (asian pulp and paper). A company well known for destructive production methods in the indonesian rainforests. This is a major contributor in the loss of habitat for endangered species such as the tiger and orangatan. Luke and I decided to join the campaign by setting up a barbie style treasure hunt in southwell town centre. Each barbie was equipped with a toy chainsaw and a tag with instructions to register a unique code on the greenpeace website and more information about the campaign. The hope was that people would see the toys and take them home with them as a fun way to advertise the new campaign. By 9 o'clock in the morning the next day, our first barbie had found a new home, and within the next two days, all the barbies had relocated.
