    REBEL MANIFESTO:

Our home—Earth—is in trouble. VW opposes key environmental laws we need if we’re going to stop our planet going the way of Alderaan (bye bye). But all is not lost. We feel the good in Volkswagen. All of us in the Rebellion are calling on Volkswagen to turn away from the Dark Side and give our planet a chance.

Despite its green image, Volkswagen is spending millions of Euros every year funding lobby groups who are trying to stop Europe increasing its commitment to greenhouse gas reductions from 20% to 30% by 2020. Progressive companies – from Google to Ikea, Sony, Unilever and Philips – support the target. Volkswagen can’t afford to be left behind.

This means lobbying VW to: support strong CO2 emissions cuts, support strong fuel efficiency standards, and put their technology where their mouth is.

In order to achieve this, Greenpeace St Andrews is bringing you a week of Star Wars-related campaigning, with (for one week only!) our very own STORMTROOPER who has turned away from the Dark Side to campaign for Greenpeace. So what marvellous things do we have planned for our Stormtrooper (and you)?

    ~~*THURSDAY, DEC 1ST:*~~

STORMTROOPER GETS STUDIOUS - 5-7pm, the library and the Union
From 5pm: see if you can spot our Stormtrooper raising awareness and disrupting studies in the library, before drumming up publicity at the Union.

STORMTROOPER GOES TO THE MOVIES - 7pm onwards, School 3
From 7pm: screening of Star Wars: A New Hope in association with Film Soc
YOUNG PADAWANS far and wide: Greenpeace & FilmSoc have used THE FORCE in a fantastic partnership to bring you a screening of the iconic Star Wars: A New Hope. Bring all your Jedi friends to JOIN THE REBELLION and help Greenpeace turn VW away from the Dark Side as we show you the remastered VW Star Wars ad and the recent winner of Greenpeace's film competition. Then, sit back with your favorite Stormtrooper (we're not even kidding), and enjoy some Chewbacca-themed snacks as you watch the episode that started it all in the most famous saga of cinematic history. Be there you will.

    ~~*FRIDAY, DEC 2ND*~~

STORMTROOPER GOES ON THE LASH - 8pm onwards, the Union
Yes, the Stormtrooper will be partying at our very own beloved Union, and pointing you towards the beautiful Greenpeace stall which will be set up there, where you can come and learn more about our Turn VW Away From The Dark Side campaign and what YOU can do about it!

    ~~*SATURDAY, DEC 3RD*~~

STORMTROOPER GETS FESTIVE - 11-4pm out and about around the Union
11am: Our Stormtrooper will be popping in to the Transition Gift Share in Victory Hall to visit the lovely people in there doing their Christmassy thing.
1pm: The Stormtrooper will make quick lunchtime break to Tesco, see if you spot him!
All this is in the interest of ferrying people towards the magnificent Greenpeace stall which will be situated outside the Union, where we will be explaining what our Turn VW Away From The Dark Side campaign is all about, and signing letters to VW asking them to use the Light Side of the Force.

    ~~*SUNDAY, DEC 4TH*~~

STORMTROOPER EDUCATES THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF STRONG EU LEGISATION ON CARBON EMISSIONS AND BIDS A FOND FAREWELL TO ST ANDREWS - 11-4pm outside the Union
Your last chance to meet our very own Stormtrooper before he moves on to campaign in another town. Greenpeace will be holding another stall outside the Union where you can learn about the campaign and sign letters to VW.

So many exciting things happening! We hope to see you there, and MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU.
