On Saturday 29th October, network co-ordinators and key activists from across Wales and the Midlands descended on Birmingham for a day of skills-share and network development, and what a day it was!

It was a lovely day, seeing some familiar faces, sharing successes and skills and highlighting problems with our networks and coming up with solutions to solve these problems.

It was really nice to hear positive news about developing new offices in previously neglected areas such as Africa, and China - it's been a long time coming and it's really nice to see Greenpeace becoming truly global!

As far as our network is concerned, we got really good feedback on how creative we are, and much our nework has grown into a positive force within the local community - we are very active and have a wide skillset amongst our members!

We also learnt some really useful skills on how to write good blog posts (not that our network really needs much help on that!) and taking good pictures - afterall, a picture speaks a thousand words!

We also discussed outreach and brainstormed some amazing ideas on how to mark the 40th year of Greenpeace making waves and being awesome! ...watch this space and see what we come up with on a local level and what the office has planned - I can't wait!

The day finished with a group trip to Manzil's - a local curry house that does very good business from Greenpeace - to enjoy a curry and wind down after a busy yet successful day!

These days of skills-share and development for network co-ordinators are really valueable - I really enjoy going for a number of reasons really,

1) Its really nice to see fellow network co-ordinators and key activists and have a catch up!

2) It gives us a chance to share problems, share successes and sound off against each other, and work together to find solutions.

3) It makes us feel really included and valueable as far as Greenpeace is concerned - that they value our opinions and contribution.

4) It's fun!

All in all, a really good day, busy, long and intense but totally worth it, I only wish we could have them more often!

Thanks Malcolm for facilitating and inviting us all!
