On Friday 19th October, members of Waltham Forest Greenpeace network went to the London School of Economics to hear Dr Kumi Naidoo, International Executive Director of Greenpeace speak on the Greenpeace, the challenges facing civil society today and his thoughts on the roles activism, protest and mass mobilisation will play in shaping the future.
Alhough it seems we were all pretty awestruck to be meeting him, we were surprised and somewhat humbled to find out the feeling was mutual, as our own Marti Bowley thanked him for being an inspiration during the actions against Cairn Energy drilling rigs last summer, Kumi replied saying that it was all the activists who boarded the rig before him who inspired him to do the same... activists just like Marti himself!
Kumi, what an amazing man and such an honour to meet him.
