We were in Barkers Pool, Sheffield today, illuminating the public to the looming spectacle of Aurora in London on Sunday September 15th, and asking them to join 3,793,704 people in becoming Arctic Defenders. Greenpeace aims to stop Shell and Gazprom from drilling there for oil and gas in 2014 as it is an environmental disaster waiting to happen. It wasn't what the weathermen promised but we braved the unseasonable August weather and wrapped up against a cold and windy day, warming ourselves with hot coffee and amusing stories. We talked to lots of members of the public who were glad to help us with our campaign which involved signing white ribbons to become part of Aurora's fur. She'll be carrying ribbons with all of the peoples names who have signed up to be Arctic Defenders and before long we had lots of white ribbons fluttering in the breeze attached to our fabric framed, hand drawn and painted polar bear. Thanks to everyone who helped with the stall and all of the people who took time out to help us with our campaign.
