With the anniversary of the Fukushima Nuclear disaster fast approaching, it seems that many countries around the world are all sufficiently concerned by the aftermath of any radiation as a result of accident or natural disaster. The wisdom of countries not wanting to have the horror of nuclear radiation visited upon their peoples is commendable, it is now time that the UK abandoned new nuclear and take the bold decision to invest soley in green renewable energy, one that does not place the safety and very existence of its people at risk.
Last week I watched a truly heart rending documentary entitled The Children of Fukushima. The people of Fukushima are doing their best to be optimistic in the face of an insidious killer. The true horror of their plight has not yet been realised. Their children and grandchildren may be the generation that reveals the truly long term radiation horror to the world and they have now become a people under a microscope of tests and results, those results are inevitable.
For future generations within the UK we must now say NO to new nuclear.
