No longer a 'rust bucket trawler': the new Rainbow Warrior docked in London
In 1977, Greenpeace organised a ‘Save the Whales’ rally in Kensington
Gardens. Spike Milligan came over to rally the troops with a quirky but
passionate speech. We sat on the grass to listen and many people ended
up soiled by dog crap.

It was an incredibly moving sight last night as we walked by
Tower Bridge
and saw the Rainbow Warrior III, at anchor on the Thames, come into view. Lights illuminated her majestic 50-metre tall masts,
and a full moon shone down on the river as we headed into the Design Museum
for a gathering of supporters and friends to mark the inaugural visit of the ship to the UK –
and the 40th anniversary of the birth of Greenpeace.

It
might be grey and drizzly out there but a splash of colour has just been added
to one small corner of London, because the
distinctive green hull of the Rainbow Warrior III arrived in London this morning.

Yesterday's handover ceremony for the Rainbow Warrior II was an emotional affair. As you can see from the images above, one or two tears were shed as she was handed over to her new owners.
With the Rainbow Warrior II renamed Rongdhonu and sailing off for a new career as a medical vessel, the launch of her replacement - Rainbow Warrior III - is imminent. We're still raising funds for our new vessel so please make a donation to keep a rainbow campaigning on the ocean waves.
Thanks to our supporters, we've raised almost £470, 240 towards building the the Rainbow Warrior III. As it nears completion, our new ship featured in Sunday's Observer magazine at the weekend.
