The new site doesn't look radically different, but behind the scenes it's been completely transformed. Before, we were constantly fighting with an outdated, volatile codebase. Now we've got a solid, modern foundation for all our future work.
Measuring results
We’ve been tracking our Google PageSpeed Insights PageSpeed Insights reports on the user experience of a page on both mobile and desktop devices, and provides suggestions on how that page may be improved.Learn more scores since launch, and compared them with the old site’s results. In some areas – especially on desktop – the old site was already doing ok but in others – especially on mobile – there was room for improvement.
These things can take some time to bed in, but we’ve already seen a dramatic improvement.

Design
The new look isn’t just about making the site prettier – it’s built on a tailored version of the GPI design system. A design system gives you a set of pre-made templates for common design elements like form fields or image captions, and more importantly, a framework for coming up with new ones.

Revamping the site has given us access to the newest version of WordPress, which feels a bit like upgrading from a knackered old Nokia to the latest iPhone. We can now build richer, more varied pages in a fraction of the time. And as a bonus, because WordPress is actively developing this product, we’ll also benefit from continuous updates and improvements.
Accessibility
The site is now easier to use for a wider range of people. Improving accessibility is good for everyone, but it’s especially important for disabled users. The new site is a big step to making Greenpeace’s web presence more inclusive and true to our values.
