Greenpeace is under attack from Big Oil giant Energy Transfer. But we won’t be silenced.

Energy Transfer, an American oil company whose chairman donated millions to Trump’s campaign, is suing Greenpeace organisations in the US and Greenpeace International for a whopping $300 million.

If Energy Transfer wins, it could mean the end of Greenpeace in the US and a chilling rollback on free speech and peaceful protest globally.

Why is Energy Transfer suing Greenpeace?

Energy Transfer, an oil pipeline company worth almost $70 billion, is suing Greenpeace USA, Greenpeace Fund, and Greenpeace International over protests led by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe against the Dakota Access Pipeline. They’re claiming that Greenpeace orchestrated the entire resistance – without any proof.

Energy Transfer is trying to silence anyone who opposes them, by misrepresenting what happened on the ground at Standing Rock. This lawsuit is an absurd attempt to rewrite history, by holding Greenpeace US and Greenpeace International accountable for an Indigenous-led resistance movement.

We won’t be silenced

Will you add your name to our global solidarity movement and help us defy Big Oil’s bullying?

Let’s show them that when they try to silence one, ten more voices will rise.

Why is this lawsuit so important?

This $300m legal attack is the biggest threat in Greenpeace’s history. If Energy Transfer wins, Greenpeace USA could be forced to close its doors after half a century of protecting people and planet. And this couldn’t come at a worse time. With President Trump – a known climate denier – in office, Big Oil giants feel even more emboldened to continue destroying our planet for profit.

But this lawsuit isn’t just about Greenpeace. It’s about everyone who believes in freedom of speech and the right to peaceful protest. Energy Transfer’s lawsuit is part of a worrying trend, where big corporations weaponise the legal system to silence their opposition. They aim to silence peaceful protest by making the stakes too high for anyone to risk it. And if they win this abusive lawsuit, it could have far-reaching consequences for all of us who dare speak truth to power.

How can you help fight back?

No matter how much these Big Oil companies try to threaten us, we refuse to be silenced. This isn’t just Energy Transfer versus Greenpeace – it’s Energy Transfer versus all of us.

Fossil fuels are fuelling the climate crisis, driving more frequent and fatal extreme weather like droughts, floods and wildfires. All around the globe and here in the UK, communities are being destroyed while those responsible – Big Oil corporations – rake in profits. We must continue to fight climate destruction, even in the face of this abusive lawsuit.

But we need your support.

Will you add your name to our global solidarity movement and help us defy Big Oil’s bullying? Let’s show them that when they try to silence one, ten more voices will rise.

And if you can, please consider supporting Greenpeace with a one-off donation. With your help, we can continue to fight Big Oil’s climate destruction and win a greener, fairer future for all.
